Award winning journalist, Lynda Steele anchors the Early News on Global Edmonton giving viewers an in-depth look at local news and an early weather forecast with Chief Meteorologist, Nicola Crosbie. Audiences look forward to the special slice of life segments each week in this newscast including movie reviews and the Good News of the Day – a viewer inspired feature. And Lynda knows the importance of community involvement, in 2007 she was awarded the prestigious Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ Gold Ribbon Award for Outstanding Community Service by an Individual Broadcaster and her best-selling book “Laptop Diaries” raised over $75,000 for women’s shelters in Edmonton!

Edmonton’s most popular and experienced news team Gord Steinke and Lynda Steele anchor the News Hour on Global Edmonton. A full hour of local, national and international news stories and features with weather forecasts by Chief Meteorologist Nicola Crosbie and Sports coverage with John Sexsmith.
Established nightly features include Health Matters with Su-Ling Goh reporting on local medical advances, breakthroughs and inspiring stories and the Global Edmonton Trouble Shooter, Julie Matthews, revealing the latest scams and consumer recalls while protecting your hard-earned money so you don’t get ripped off.
Audiences especially look forward to a monthly feature in the News Hour – Your Town – created and hosted by Gord Steinke. Your Town has Gord heading out to rural Alberta communities to profile our province’s hidden gems and tell their stories.
The News Hour has been known to take its entire newscast “On the Road” on occasion – an unprecedented event that brings the excitement of a live newscast to live audiences in and around Edmonton.

Global Edmonton has your weekend news covered with the EVENING NEWS at 6pm, followed by NEWS FINAL at 11pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Global News anchor, Carolyn Jarvis takes viewers through the weekend with this busy half hour of local, national and international headlines. Weather anchor, Duane English provides viewers with the weekend weather forecast and a look ahead at temperatures for the following week. Dean Millard rounds out the weekend newscasts with a comprehensive look at Sports – both amateur and professional.
The Evening News broadcasts Saturday and Sunday from 6pm to 6:30pm.
