About Us

We are celebrating our 20th Anniversary! Global Maritimes was first launched on September 5, 1988. At that time CIHF-TV was the only over-the-air independent television station in the area.

It was purchased in September 1994 by Canwest Media Inc. and since the rebrand in 2006 has been known in the community as Global Maritimes.

Since Canwest purchased the station, our expansion has been significant. Seventeen transmitters and an extensive fibre network provide coverage to 91% of the population in the Maritimes.

Global Maritimes operates from a central studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with sales and news bureaus in Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton, and a news bureau in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Our regional head office is located in the beautiful harbour city of Halifax.

Production Services

Our Production Department consists of three (3) Producer / Directors in Halifax and one (1) in Saint John, New Brunswick. The creative team also includes a non-linear Productions Editor, EFP specialist and graphic designer, all based in Halifax. Our production photographer uses Sony XD digital technology for our on-location projects.

Our Post Production suite offers the power of editing on an Avid Media Composer 9000 with Photoshop and numerous additional software packages, that give our clients all the advantages of other post facilities at a lower cost.
