Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was commonly referred to as POW City, the acronym meaning Potash, Oil and Wheat. While these commodities are an ever increasing value, Saskatoon has become much more!

Saskatoon is the home of a thriving high-tech industry. Innovation Place, located at the University of Saskatchewan, is the research home of large bio-technology companies including Aventis, Bayer Incorporated, Philom Bios, Dow Agrosciences Canada, Monsanto and Novartis.

Saskatoon is also the home of Synchroton – The Canadian Light Source. This facility is the only one of its kind in Canada and one of only a few third generation synchrotons in the world. The facility attracts over 35 million dollars annually in commercial research and development.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is booming. The city’s growth rate in 2007 topped the list in all of Canada. Real GDP has increased an average 4% annually over the last four years while consumer spending has increased an average 7.5% during the last three years. The population within the city is projected to exceed 240,000 in 2009.

“Saskatoon Shines”……..brightly!
